AirportScout

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 19, 2026

AirportScout shows live airport security wait times, combining reports from travelers with published TSA data. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and what control you have over it. We collect the minimum needed to make crowd-sourced wait times work — no ads, no data sales, no tracking across other apps.

Information we collect

Account information

Wait-time reports

When you submit or confirm a wait time, we store the airport, checkpoint, lane type, the wait you reported, the time of the report, and your account ID. The wait time, airport, and time of your reports are shared with other travelers as part of the app's live wait estimates; your account ID and display name are not shown alongside individual reports.

Activity stats

We keep counts of your reports and confirmations to power in-app badges and the leaderboard (shown with your display name, if you set one).

Location

The app uses your device location in two ways, both entirely on your device:

In both cases your location is never stored and never leaves your device. Location permission is optional for browsing wait times, but is required to submit reports.

Crash reports

Builds with crash reporting enabled send crash details (device model, operating system version, and technical error information) to Sentry so we can fix bugs. Crash reports are not linked to your account.

What we don't collect

No advertising identifiers, no contact lists, no precise location history, no background location, no analytics profiles, and no data purchased from or sold to anyone.

How we use information

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

Where your information lives

Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). This permanently removes your account, sign-in credentials, and gamification stats from our backend. Wait-time reports you previously contributed are retained in anonymized form: the link to your account (your user identifier) and any free-text comment you added are permanently removed from those reports. What remains is the airport and checkpoint, the reported wait time, the line type, and the timestamp — data that can no longer be associated with you or any other person. Data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.

If you have trouble deleting your account in the app, email us (address below) and we'll do it for you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. Since AirportScout collects very little, most of this is visible directly in the app — but you can always contact us to exercise any of these rights. We will never discriminate against you for doing so.

Children

AirportScout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
